- Before we start, all of you should know there are two kinds of Firmware for PSP. They are OFW [Offical Firmware] and CFW [Custom Firmware]
+ OFW: This is original firmware which is made and published by Sony for PSP. You have to update your OFW to a newer version in order to play some certain games. You can update it through the System Update in Settings, or Download it from the Internet, or Update it by using UMD.
+ CFW: Like its name, this kind of firmware is "costumed" for hacked PSP. This is not made by Sony, actually it was made by Sony and then modified by hacker. People who have this kind of firmware on PSP can download and play Games on their PSP without paying for those Games and we call them "pirates" [I am a pirate too lol]
- Because CFW is illegal so you can not have some benefits like OFW does, but you can play your Games for free, launch some homebrew and I think that is the most interesting part.
II/ CFW Download:
- Before we start, you have to make sure you are using CFW or your PSP was hacked. One way to check is turning your PSP on, then go to Settings/System Settings/System Information and then see the version. If your version is a number with some letter after it like 5.00M33 or 5.50 GEN then you are having CFW. If you do not see anything after those number it means you are currently using OFW and please do not try to download or install this.
